"Science &Technology
for Homeland Security"
October 9, 2009 at FICCI Federation House
The current global trade and
industry system connects people, goods, conveyances,
money and information around the world. This connectivity
is leading to new risks. Governments must secure the
system from terrorist attacks, while preventing criminals
from using the system for their own operations. The
November 26 terror attack on Mumbai has forced the private
sector and the government agencies in India to seriously
consider improving the nation's homeland security apparatus.
India needs to, not only invest more but also needs
to upgrade to modern hi-tech security equipments, better
costal security provisions, better personal training
and better co-ordination between the various Government
securities agencies etc. India needs technology as human
intervention will not be sufficient to man a number
of vulnerable places in our country.
We are pleased to inform you
that FICCI is organizing a programme on "Science
&Technology for Homeland Security" on October
9, 2009 at FICCI Federation House, Tansen Marg, New
Delhi. Science and Technology specific to counter terrorism
would include the means to ensure surveillance and intelligence,
tracing systems, premature detonation of explosives,
threat neutralization response, law enforcement, develop
methodologies for recovery and consequence management.
