Security of infrastructure and territory
is one of the major concerns for any nation in today's
globalized economy. India is witnessing all time high
episodes of cross border terrorism, naxal violence,
extremism, narcoting trafficking, cyber attacks etc.
Terrorism today poses the gravest threat to India's
sovereignty and integrity. Also there are other acts
of violence which have threatened the political and
economic stability of the country apart from subverting
the fundamental Rules of law and denial of rights of
the citizens. Hence there is need to further bolster
the existing security system, intelligence gathering,
to equip security personnel with cutting edge technologies
and to increase the outreach of administrative governance.
The nation well recognizes the need to adopt innovative
solutions to tackle the challenges for homeland security
with greater use of Science & Technology
FICCI has been playing an instrumental role in addressing
the key issues in this sector. Last year FICCI organized
a programme on "Science & Technology for Homeland
Security". The programme was inaugurated by Mr.
G.K. Pillay Secretary Home Affairs. The conference witnessed
the congregation of various Paramilitary Forces and
security agencies and met with huge success in terms
of addressing the key issues in Homeland Security.
FICCI is organizing a two day programme on Science &
Technology for Homeland Security 2010 scheduled on 29-30
July, 2010 at FICCI Federation House, Tansen Marg, New
Delhi.
